Taiwan, Taipei, Computex and such (Image heavy)

Okay. To sum it up, Taiwan was TIRING. I hurt in so many places I never thought possible. I kinda broke my favourite boots and didn’t manage to buy one there since they apparently didn’t have my size. As if my feet are that humongous or something. Anyway, I have yet to mention that I have procured a new DSLR set.. Olympus E-30, with 12-60mm SWD lens and an external FL-50R flash. It cost me more than 7k! I can’t believe I just spent that sort of money but frankly, it was worth every cent. I had lots of fun snapping photos although it is seriously taxing on my arms. The weight becomes apparent after longer usage. Lol.

Regardless of what people say about being able to obtain various articles of value as door gifts, I beg to differ. All I got was two thumbdrives, and some other knick-knacks. That was it. Of course the guys that went to Computex was looking forward to the hot booth babes there, although after the whole event there were quite a number of complaints as there seemed to be a decrease in the quality and quantity of booth babes. Haha. Well, I didn’t really meet any Taiwanese bishies so I have nothing much to say.

I reckon it is a chinese thing to show affection or gain favor by feeding people. On the day we (as in the whole media entourage) arrived at night, our sponsors ScanArt took us to meet NU people. They fed us a HUGE supper. A table of less than 10 persons, we were served more than TWENTY dishes. That is not even funny. On top of that we were asked to drink up beer (Frankly, Taiwan Beer is so watered down lol) so our tummies were super bloated. The next morning, we were to have breakfast at 7:30 in the morning. Gawd. I don’t even eat breakfast, imagine waking up at such an unholy hour just to eat. Well, basically I ate helluva lot, and walked even more in Taiwan. I took some photos but I somehow am taking forever to post-process it as usual. Maybe when I am not so blur.

I didn’t really do much drinking over there, maybe because I was too tired to party even more. Well, I did go out with some ScanArt boys and Gigabyte people from Taiwan. I met this Japanese guy and his Taiwanese translator. It was funny how beer makes a person braver. Anyway, as most people know, my Japanese language is not that good. What do you expect since I learn from movies and animes. Haha. Well, I was trying to speak to the Jap guy, Magarifuchi-san, and he actually understood what I was saying. Lol. The translator was telling me that my Japanese slang was pretty accurate, and the funniest thing was, she said my Japanese was wayy better than my Mandarin. LOLOLOL! And I am Chinese. WTH. Shy weii… Haha. Well, I kinda got drunk that night since I didn’t eat dinner and somehow when I was going off in a taxi with some other friends, this guy just kissed me. I was like WHUUT??? I was too shocked to do anything and was quickly ushered into the taxi. Thankfully it was just a quick peck. Lol. No cooties please!! Haha.

Other than that, I didn’t have any other exciting episodes in Taiwan. It was more about work than anything else. I didn’t even manage to get my wigs which I am really, really, really upset about. I am gonna try ordering online though. I hope it will work out.

I will upload some photos when I finish processing them. A bit too lazy right now. Oh, another thing. I learnt that I must take a DSLR and a compact next time. At least I can take party photos that way. Camwhoring with a DSLR is almost impossible. Haha.

A lazy weekend

My magazine is finally out! Now I have time to blog again. It is always the same at the end of every month. Anyway, I’ve been having super lazy Sundays for the last two weeks. The week before I didn’t do anything other than laze around in bed playing games on my netbook, while still in pajamas. Haha. I was also busy watching series after series of Japanese drama. And as for last week, I did almost the same thing, except this time I was a little more hardworking to try my hand at making cold soba and some mentsuyu. Sorry for the bad photo since I don’t have access to the Olympus E-3 anymore. However, I will be FINALLY getting my own DSLR. I’m expecting to get it this week; my Olympus E-30 + 12-60mm f2.8-4.0 + FL-50R. I can’t believe I’m actually gonna get my hands on it! Woohoo! It’s causing me a broken wallet but thankfully I managed to get an installment plan from my company, so I will be cutting down on cosplay for the next 16 months. Haha. Oh well, it is worth every penny though.. I hope. I will know when I get my hands on it.

I’ve also been making weird handphone danglies and stuff hoping to have enough stuff to make a killer sales at my doujin booth. I’ve joined Justin and Kevyn, and with a funny group name like Umeboshi, we’re hoping to have fun at the same time getting our hardwork accepted by people. I’m still doing some trial and errors as I don’t want my things be too fragile as well, so the road to finish seems long and windy. *sigh*

Anyway, I’ll be heading to Taiwan next week for Computex, so since I’m expecting the net there to be wayyy awesome than here, I’ll prob update my blog on the happenings around there. I’m hoping I won’t get too broke!

Here’s a picture of the cold soba + mentsuyu I made last Sunday. Didn’t have spring onions so I have one spot empty. Maybe next time.

Marathoned Nodame Cantabile in two days

I am suddenly addicted to Japanese live action series, especially those that have good looking bishies in it. And mostly shoujo-ish in genre. The last live action I was watching was Mei-san no Shitsuji and although I know Nodame Cantabile is not a new title, but watching it made me fall in love with classical music. Maybe the interpretation of the music together with the story made the music more meaningful. On top of that, the main character Chiaki-sama was played by Hiroshi Tamaki, a very kakkoi looking guy. *swoon* Both seasons were really hilarious, entertaining and generally a very, very good series. It has silly, crazy moments, serious moments and I even cried at certain parts. (Yes, I got too caught up in the story. Hmph) The heroine is a little silly though her childlike-ness makes her charming I suppose. At least it wasn’t totally overdone or I would have been too irritated to watch her antics.

Well, I actually managed to marathon TWO SEASONS of Nodame Cantabile (I still wondering how I did that) in TWO DAYS. Haha. Now my mind is filled with love, romance and music. And Paris… It is really beautiful. Hmm.. time to put Europe in the list of places I want to visit someday.

Here’s some screenshots; leave me to my swooning… Kyiahhhh!! Tamaki-sama~! :P (Now a guy in tux is yummy too.. kekeke) Btw.. sorry if most of them are of Chiaki and none of Nodame. Hahaha.

Bishie Alert! Mei-chan no Shisuji Live Action

Recently I just started watching this new Japanese live action series called “Mei-chan no Shitsuji”. A colleague passed it to me saying that it has a lot of drool-worthy bishies in it, and SHE WAS RIGHT!! Frankly, I’m not really a big fan of live action since most of them are too dramatic, especially when they’re based on mangas. For this live action however, the story is more believable than the manga, and somehow more heart-warming although the bishies in it made it a whole lot more enjoyable. Yes, I’m fan-girling right now.

The story is a little bit stereotype, with the whole princess/prince thing going on (More like the perfect butler in this case) with the main character getting bullied for being a commoner in a princess-type school. But somehow, you would want to know what happens next, why the “bad guy” is bad, and the stories behind each character. On top of that, the drama is quite humourous with silly out-of-characterish personalities from various characters. And of course the bishies. Did I mention the cute guys yet? Hahahaha.

Anyway, after watching it, I went to check out the manga as well. Somehow, the manga didn’t seem too interesting as it is over-the-top shoujo. Guess for once the live action could challenge the manga main story. Here are some screenshots of the cuties for you to drool over too.. (sorry for the loading time.. haha). Oh. And if you think they look cute, their mannerisms and the things they say in the movie.. *swoon*

Stuffing my face

I just had this burger a few days ago.. it’s a heartattack in a bite. Haha. This is a beef burger double cheese special. It’s amazing how I even managed to stuff this in my mouth. It’s so high! Basically, its two beef patties wrapped in egg, cheese and some salad, squashed between two buns. Looking at how the sauces kept spilling out, I just had to photograph it. Looks abit messy and gross close up though the taste is amazing. Definitely better than Mcdonalds. :)

Daicon roadshow at 1utama

Yeah. I was at the Daicon’s roadshow held in 1utama last Friday. The roadshow was actually held for three days; Friday - Sunday, but I was too lazy to brave the weekend jam just to hangout there for three days. Lol. Anyway, basically the Emina Cyberjaya crew was promoting their Daicon event which will be held on 11-12 July 2009 at their Cyberjaya campus. And their main attraction is a concert by Japanese seiyuu and pop idol Chihara Minori!! For those who cannot recall that name, Chihara-san is the seiyuu for Yuki from Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. It will be a three hour concert and thr ticket pricing is very reasonable; extremely cheap in my opinion. For fans of Chihara Minori, check out Daicon’s website: http://daiconnews.com/

I didn’t really do much during the roadshow since I was just there to be a busybody. Met up with some friends, and since I wasn’t in a super social mood, I grabbed my camera and looked for subjects to shoot. Nothing much that really caught my eye, and since it was crowded (and I can’t stand crowded shopping areas) I left after a while. I only managed to get a few good shots. Here’s some.

Dei is the strongest? *hmmm

Promoting for DaiCon - butler and his board?

07-Ghost - Episode 3

Okay.. I’ve just watched the third episode of 07-Ghost. Somehow it is still as slow as ever. By this third episode, my interest seemed to have waned a little. The story seems to be plodding along too slowly, and there isn’t enough humor to make it livelier. I understand the anime is very gothic-like, but I believe if the anime followed the manga closely, yet add more expressions, the characters would stand out more. I hope in a few more episodes, there would be more action and excitement.
